Spooky and Fun Halloween Family Treat just Outside New York City

Sleepy Hollow is a famous place any time of year! It has beautiful mansions, including Lyndenhurst and Kykuit the Rockefeller estate along with a cemetery of famous people, such as Brooke Astor, Washington Irving, William Rockefeller, Walter Chrysler and Elizabeth Arden.

Halloween is the best time to visit as there is nothing more spooky and fun than the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze which runs tonight, Halloween night, as well as several weekends in November! It features over 7,000 hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins set against the mysterious backdrop of Van Cortlandt Manor’s 18th-century buildings and riverside landscape.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving soaks the atmosphere as everyone looks nervously over their shoulders to check if the headless horsemen or Ichabod Crane is headed their way. This all takes place at the Van Cortlandt Manor, 525 South Riverside Avenue, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 10520.  Adults $22, children 3-17 $16 (Fridays and Saturdays $27 and $20). Free for children under 3.
